Nativity scene scam in England

Postby KOVAKS on Fri Dec 05, 2008 8:57 am

A charming and magical Lapland-themed nativity scene in Dorset, England turns out to be a mudpit.

Hundreds of people turning up to see a wonderful Christmas spectacle left distraught, furious and £25 poorer after being fooled by audaciously false advertising on a website.

A woman fears she has wasted £3,000 after buying more than 100 tickets to a Lapland-style theme park described as a "scam" by scores of angry visitors.
Sheilagh-Anne Davidson paid £25 each for 132 tickets to Lapland New Forest this weekend, on behalf of a social club in Berkshire.
Hundreds of visitors have told the BBC the site on the Hampshire-Dorset border does not resemble marketing pictures.

From the highly reputable BBC. There is also a screen capture there of the original website (now offline).

Things got violent, a former security guard said:
He also said staff were subjected to violent outbursts by irate customers, including Santa being attacked and one of the elves being "smacked in the face and pushed into a pram".

More here.

Tensions reached a peak when furious parents allegedly confronted ‘elves’ in a ‘gingerbread house’ and Father Christmas was punched in his grotto, according to angry customers.

From the Dorset Echo.
